val <3s physical media!
thank u for checking out this part of the site!!
i was born in the age where the latest technology consisted of big desktop home computers, a home cable box, the beginnings of the ipod, and cds and dvds! (aka the 2000s)
growing up, like many others born in the same era, we had a huge dvd collection at my house. we still have a bunch of them now! disney movies, kids tv shows, a couple popular movies, and plain discs with titles written in sharpie. i vaguely remember walking to blockbuster to look at the movies for rent, before they shut down when i was in elementary school, and perusing certain websites on the living room tv to find the movie we'd watch over dinner.
i started collecting cds when i was about 15, i got an old stereo system from a thrift store to play them on (though later my mom would unearth my old hello kitty cd player which is my primary device for cd listening now!) and my collection only grew more and more since. when i was 17 i got my first cassette tape, and now i've got a small hoard of those as well, and last year i got a couple vinyl records and listen to those on a record player my grandmother gave to me that she'd had since the 80s. i also have made an effort to pick up dvds of movies i enjoy, new and old, secondhand or not. i have so much love for my physical media collection.
if anyone is wondering how i get lots of my cds/dvds/etc. i've gotten a lot of my stuff secondhand through ebay or thrift stores! i do also pick up things from big retailers, but i usually will check ebay/thrift stores first if theres a particular thing i'm looking for. otherwise i just go to record stores and go like Omg . i kinda wanted this . and if i can afford to i'll pick it up. i'm very improvisational with it.
anyways, if you'd like to see more info about my physical media collection you can go here!
